Deepening Devolution (1st June 2022-31st January 2023)

Deepening Devolution project through Strengthening Civic Space for Realization of Sustainable Development Goals-SDGs in Kenya. This project focused on Civic society voice in policy making strengthened at national and county levels (Inclusive platforms for public participation and civic engagement strengthened at County and national levels). The public participation involved advocacy towards the implementation of public participation frameworks. The project was domiciled in Turkana Central and targeted the Wards of Kangatotha, Kalokol and Kanamkemer

Natural Resource Sharing through Recovery Assistance for Resilience(3rd October 2022 to 2nd October 2023)

Natural Resource Sharing through Recovery Assistance for Resilience – funded by USAID (Turkana West-Kapoeta East and Uganda -Kaabong). The project focused on three outcome areas namely: Improved capacities of Local Development Organizations and stakeholders in programming within Karamoja Cluster, Social cohesion as a foundation for resilience programming strengthened and Conflict-sensitive management and equitable sharing of natural resources in cross-border areas improved. This was a partnership project with Agency for Cross Border Pastoralists for Development (APaD)

The Cross Border Community Resilience Project (5th December 2022 to 21st April 2023)

The Cross Border Community Resilience Project supported two research activities on Applied Political Economy Analysis and Conflict and Climate Change Assessments as part of the USAID funded activities. The research focused on Cross Border Communities Resident in Uganda, Kenya South Sudan and Ethiopia.

We have managed to secure funding for a Cross Border Peace and Resilience Project which kicked off in May 2023.

Promotion of Sustainable Peace & Inclusive Cross-Border Community Resilience for Development (May 2023 To April 2025)

We have recently been awarded a new project to implement in the Cross-Border area of Kenya between Turkana West Sub County (Letea and Kalobeyei Wards) and Kaabong District. The project is focused on contributing towards the promotion of sustainable peace and inclusive cross border community resilience for development. The objectives are enhancing the peace and security of the people of Turkana West and Kaabong Districts and enhancing their resilience to drought and related disasters.

Afforestation and Architectural Project (June 2024 To May 2025)

We are participating in an Afforestation and Architectural project in partnership with The University Polytechnic of Madrid in Spain, Egerton University, Masinde Muliro University of Science and Technology and Turkana County Government. The project is a Bamboo-Living Seed Project which is a Feasibility Study and cultivation project of a pilot plantation, training and outreach activities with respect to the financial, social and environmental benefits of the bamboo for the refugees in camps and host communities in Turkana County.

Community Resilience Through Risk Reduction (July 2023 to June 2024)

We have been awarded in the USAID funded Cross Border Community Resilience activity for the Cross Border area between Kenya’s Lokichoggio Sub County and South Sudan’s Kapoeta East County. The project is on Community Resilience Through Risk Reduction and is an all-inclusive resilience focussed project with specifics on expanding livelihoods and creating employment opportunities, Natural Resource Management and Advocacy on relevant policies for the rights of women/girls at risk. The project is titled: Expanding and Strengthening Cross-Border Livelihoods, Natural Resources Management and Supporting Policy Advocacy for Pastoral Communities in Kapoeta-Lokichoggio Corridor.

The research is taking place in Loima, Turkana Central and Turkana West Sub-Counties of Turkana County. Specific sites include along river Turkwel, Kakuma Refugee Camp and Oropoi Sub- location. Duration of the Study: The study is planned for a period of one year for both research and reporting. The partners included in the study are Acme Development organization (National NGO), Egerton University and The Polytechnic University of Madrid (SPAIN).
